Ok so you've gotten your child a great toy. Do you just give it to your child and go " Here's your toy", and leave her/him to it? If you do, then chances are your child would not appreciate the toy given.

They say a mother is a child's first and best friend. So be just that. Give the toy in a fun way. Hide it somewhere easy and have him/her search for it. You can search too, but of course, you already know where it is. Well, mock search. Join your child in playing with the new toy, he'll subconsciously come to appreciate you and that toy. Have fun, laugh and roll around. When you have a kid, take that opportunity to be a kid with him/her.

Those are great ideas. I do something like that at easter. I get all the baskets together and hide them the night before. The kids look forward to Easter morning and the hunt for their baskets. It makes it super memorable for them.

Oh guilty as charged. I usually give toys to my daughter and then let her play with them. But I do get involved after she has played with them. I think those are good ideas for your child to start appreciating the toys given to her.

I think those are some great ideas but generally I do just give my little one the toy. Half the time or more she would rathe rhave the box than the toy anyway!

I have always done something totally random when it comes to giving gifts. The other day my youngest helped me with some crazy errands that I had to run, was extremely good the entire time and helped me by carrying things to/from as the day went on. Towards the end of the "working day" she got a virtual paycheck/type in the form of a little pony. She was ecstatic!

This are really great ideas. I think I would want my babies to appreciate their gifts as something special. I hope I always remember how important is to share the wonder of surprises.
