I recently went out to buy my 4 year a bike. He had been asking me to get him one for a while and I finally got it. But... he hates it. He told me it's too hard and he wants me to take it back to the store! I don't want to force him but it's not a small toy to just change your mind about. What do I do?

What exactly is too hard? Riding in general, riding without training wheels, or something else. So long as the bike fits him properly and he's got some balance just keep persevering. Maybe invite another child over who can ride a bike already to make him really want to learn.
I would just put it in the garage and wait until he is interested again. Maybe he's not ready. No need to force bicycling!
I did just that. But I put it in plain sight and so far he's managed to just sit on it and pretend. So maybe the next step is to actually ride it. I did take him to the park and he did see other kids riding bikes but he could care less!
