Dealing with the heat

Why oh why did I want to have an August baby? I'm so big and hot and miserable right now. I've been spending most of every afternoon in my kids kiddie pool but I just feel like a beached whale. I'm drinking gobs of ice water, but I can't seem to get cool. Any tips from veteran summer preggos?

Oh, you poor thing! I had two June babies and I was absolutely miserable! The only thing I know to do right now is dress as cool as you can and stay under an air conditioner.

Put a spray bottle (the kind you can buy for .99 at Walmart) in the fridge and keep it full. Spritz yourself occasionally and drink hot beverages. While eating and drinking cold things makes you feel good immediately it actually raises your core temperature as opposed to warm/hot things which does the opposite.

I had 2 early-September babies, so I feel your "heat"!! I stayed in air conditioning and I was fine. With the later child, we had heat around 100 degrees and my air conditioner at home broke and so did the one at work!! I was so miserable! I had to go to the Library just to get some relief!

Other than AC, simply try to wear light weight clothing, sleeveless and shorts. Also if you hold a cold pack to your neck area it will cool your blood a little and circulate cooler blood. It doesn't cool you enough to cause any problems, it just makes you feel a bit cooler. I also was a fan of luke-warm showers and baths as opposed to typical bath-water temperature.
