Instigating grandma

We went out to eat to a restaurant with my mom, my son and my brother. My brother who is 16 started throwing paper towels at my 4 year old. I grew irritated and switch seats with my son so my son and my brother would stop the paper throwing. Problem solved.

I went to the restroom and when I came back I found my mom and my son sitting across each other throwing spit balls at each other through a straw! I kept thinking, is this the same lady that wouldn't let me wipe my mouth with my sleeve?! Yup, it was. Now she was throwing spitballs and laughing hysterically with my son. I guess that's why grandmas rock!

Haha, I think grandkids are more of a disease than a lifeform. They get around grandparents and people just change their whole outlook and demeanor. My grandparents on both sides were strict, staunch people until they had grandkids. No end of foolishness was acted out at dinner tables, in stores, and car rides.

So true. My mother would never let me chew gum and now she walks around with a quarter just in case we run into a gumball machine and my son wants one. She used to tell me no junk before dinner and now she gives my son a cookie and says "it's just a little cookie!" I wish I had a cookie period when I was younger!

I could see a gram playing around but spitballs, really? That's a new twist on the gram being over top of the parent if I could ever have imagined so!

My grandmother was too old for me to really experience this kind of relationship with her. My mother was the third of four (each a minimum of four years apart), and she herself struggled to have kids, taking eight years to conceive.

So my grand mother died at 82 when I was 19 years old, and at six or seven when I would have been at spit ball age, she was already really getting on.
