Iron pills
Did anyone of you have problems with iron pills? I had severe constipation. I always hated taking those pills, even vitamins including iron did not work well for me.

I was told some time ago that when you take iron pills you should also have soemthing citric, it help the iron to desolve properly. I had to take iron pills when I was pregnant, I was not constipated though, I did have a lot of fibre in my diet.

I did when I was a teen, but I never had that issue. I always took an additional multivitamin. Maybe you can talk with your doctor and they could Rx something else to you?

I would definitely ask about it. If its causing the constipation its not exactly helping out as much as you'd like it to. Maybe they can suggest something to balance it out.

I was very sick with my high iron multivitamin. It would make me so sick feeling that I was told that I should only take it right before I went to bed (so I slept through the nausea). That and constipation are very common, so if you can make it up in your diet instead I would suggest perhaps finding a lower iron vit.

Iron pills are very constipating. If at all possible you could try to eat food high in iron so you don't have to take the pills. That's what I did with my first pregnancy. Some things I tried to eat more of were red meat, broccoli, raisins and some kinds of nuts.

I'm taking Floradix iron supplement, which is supposed to be less constipating. I have horrid issues with constipation already, but the floradix hasn't made it any worse.

Take ones with stool softener
I can't remember the specific name for them but my friend had this issue with regular iron pills. Her doctor had her buy the iron with the stool softener combined and it worked like a charm.

I was given a special iron pill while I was pregnant, I have always needed iron even when I am not pregnant so it was no surprise that I still needed them.

Is it possible that you are taking too many of them? I know this happened with a friend of mine and the doctor ended up giving her a lower mg. prescription.
