Is Losing Weight After Pregnancy As Hard As Losing Regular Weight

Some have told me it is a lot easier to lose weight after pregnancy as opposed to losing weight that you have stored over time as fat. I do not know if this is fact, or just their experiences. Does anyone have any input?

I think it's supposed to be easier especially if you breastfeed after pregnancy, because your body was storing stuff for the baby and now it's changing gears to take care of the baby. Which means sluffing off unfitness (but you have to help it).

I'm not sure. I can never gain weight, unless I am pregnant. And the weight goes away, which is fine. I am at the same weight (within 5lbs) as I was before my girl was born (shes 10 months now), but I have a "belly" now, same weight, it just moved to the belly I guess.

I think it is easier to loose the weight after pregnancy. I seemed to loose it soon after but then always seemed to gain back a few extra pounds that were not there before. I agree with the last poster ,mine seemed to settle in my stomach also.The last time i held a lot of water for a week or so before it went away.

If you're breastfeeding, your body burns between 500 and 700 calories a day producing milk. That's why people say it's easier to lose pregnancy weight. If you're breastfeeding twins, that number jumps to 2000 a day! So realistically, if you were to eat what you normally ate, without eating extra, you would lose about a pound a week breastfeeding alone. If you're not breastfeeding, the fat stores meant to make breastmilk migrate down from the breast tissue to the tummy area. It then becomes the same as the non pregnancy weight, with the same difficulty to lose.

I will speak from my experience, I lost most of my baby weight in the first two - three weeks, after that I gained it back while I was breastfeeding. I seem to have developed an insatiable appetite. The more I nursed is the more often I felt hungry, it was insane. Almost 2 years later and I am still retaining 15 pounds.

That was my problem too. I was hungrier for the first 6 months nursing so no weight loss. The next 6 months I lost a bit when he supplimented with solids. Unfortunately, I gained it back when my maternity leave was over and I went back to work (Wendy's) when he turned 1.

Exercises after delivery are something very important. You just cannot ignore. If you do so and get least bothered about yourself, slowly you will find yourself out of shape and size, and then the same problems will arise. v

I breastfed my babies so that helped to burn up some extra calories. But you also get a lot busier and more active having to take care of a new baby. There's less time to just sit for sure.
