Juvenile arthritis

Has anyone else any experience with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis? My 4 year old granddaughter has had this since she was around 18 months old. It is controlled by weekly injections of drugs but I'd like to know if anyone has encountered anything else that will help.

My friend has it-she was diagnosed at 6 years old. She now (at almost 30) has major deformity of some of the large joints.

She found methotrexate to be helpful. Otherwise, very little I'm afraid.

Oh, thanks for that. I'm sorry to hear about your friend. We have been told that in 80% of cases it will disappear on it's own so we hope for the best. Yes, this is what she has injected every week, but it has affected her taste buds and she has no appetite so she is a thin child. I have heard that fish oil is good for arthritis but don't know anyone who has tried it.
