As a singleton I loved to take beach holidays and just lounge around. That obviously doesn't work with little ones so we stopped going abroad. When are kids better able to cope with travelling by plane, and taking that kind of holiday?

There are a good number of vacation packages aimed at children. Not only the holiday parks, but there are even child friendly cruises now where kids are in activity clubs in the day, and the parents can chill.

I think what you need is the frame of mind that it will include work but that it is worth it. I have always taken my kids with me everywhere I go. Now that my kids can verbalize their likes, they love to tell me how they want to be able to visit all the places in the world I have been. They are well behave kids in restaurants and stores. I have always believed that we need to teach the kids how to behave in social situations from birth.
