Limit the candy intake

What is a good rule of thumb to limit how much candy your child will be eating this year? I always had to sit down at the table while my parents checked my candy, and most of the time they would give me a small bowl filled with candy for a couple of days, I don't remember it ever running out, I think I just forgot about it afew days after Halloween. Wondered if anyone had some good tips they would like to share?

Have a safe day and evening all!

Anyone that I know with little ones that are under 4 are limited to about 3 or 4 pieces and thats it, less pieces each day the candy stays around. I know some that tell me its okay that children can eat sweets until the adult teeth come in, but I don't really agree with that. When I sit for others, I seldom give sweets, its gotta be an occasion of some sort before I break out the candy dish.

There is no point in making a sugar habit that you then have to break when the adult teeth come in.

I have always firmly believed that there is no need for candy at all before two years old. That is what I am aiming for, and then minimal beyond that. Holidays are the exception to the rule, the time a small amount of candy is ok.
