Long name

What do you guys think of a child with 5 names? My cousin is thinking of naming her boy, Martin Rafael Stanton Lee Sanderson. I mean come on, I can see giving honor to certain family members but isn't this overkill?

I wouldn't personally do this to one of my children, but I know that certain cultures traditionally have lots of names and the UK Royal family all have several names each. It depends whether there are a lot of family names to squeeze in as well, of course. I have a middle name and I never bother using it, so I didn't give my children more than one each.

I wouldn't do that to my baby. How could they handle spelling all that in kindergarten. The poor teachers would have a ton of problems. Besides I don't think family actually expect to be honor this way. I am not even going to use family names.

I have a friend whose oldest child has four names, but that's the most I've heard of, offhand. I don't see any reason why one can't have two middle names, but more than that, I think, is overkill.

On the other hand, I have a friend who doesn't have even ONE middle name.
