Long term breast feeding

I know that in by gone days and even still in other countries, women breastfeed their babies into their 2's, 3's or longer. For you moms that are loving breastfeeding, if having to go back to work wasn't a concern, or the stigma of a toddler on your breast, how long would you breastfeed?

For some moms the questions is how long CAN you breastfeed. Due to my own health issues I was only able to breast feed each child 9 months. But that is better than nothing. I would have gone longer if I could have.

I think you should stop when your baby starts to get teeth. I think that when a baby can get up and walk, it's time to stop. At least for me it was.

A baby may get teeth at birth-some are born with them. Others get them early, by around two months. Is that a good time to stop? I think not.

I think that's best to let the child wean when they are ready. No child will normally go on past three to four years, and when you consider how other mammals nurse-well in the animal kingdom a baby animal must be MUCH more mature before they wean. We are the animal anomaly when it comes to weaning, we do it too soon.
