Low Blood Pressure

I visit my OB this morning and I've got a low blood pressure still. It's 80/70. MY doctor told me that I should continue to take Iron in order to make my BP a little higher. I am already taking it but I am also sleeping late always. Does sleeping late affects the blood pressure?

The iron tablets are to increase you blood pressure, sleeping is a side effect of the taking the iron tablets. I don't think sleeping will affect your blood pressure.

I haven't heard about iron helping low blood pressure. It is good if you are anemic. Anemia will also cause you to sleep lots.

When you are sleeping and rested that will naturally cause your blood pressure to be low, but generally low blood pressure is Ok as long as you aren't having any dizziness or anything.

Some of my friends told me that I just have to take enough rest and free my mind from worries. Luckily my last visit with my OB is good. My BP is already 110/80. I think this is already the normal BP for a pregnant woman.

I imagine she told you to take iron tablets to help your anemia; which; if it is fixed, will also help your blood pressure. However, sleeping extra doesn't really affect your blood pressure at all. Drinking a lot of extra water will help with the side effects of the iron tablets, as, if you take a couple a day, you will get constipated and nauseated. You also need to be eating foods that are higher in iron to be able to help increase your blood counts faster. It's going to take several weeks of taking additional iron to be able to actually help your blood counts, but you should start feeling less lethargic after about a week.

The extra sleeping adds to the theory that you are anaemic, as anaemia causes one to be easily fatigued. You should also be drinking a lot of water, as dehydration can cause a drop in blood pressure.
