Milk Drinking

My middle child used to happily drink plain milk, until I started giving her strawberry milk. Now she refuses her milk and says it hurts her tummy, that she wants pink milk instead.

Now, if the milk was giving her tummy ache, then pink milk would too, right? And therefore I figure it's just because she would rather pink milk-and who wouldn't?

So I have decided to not give her pink milk any more, till she starts taking it plain again. Do you think this has a chance of working-just keep giving her white milk?

You've done exactly what you should. She is simply trying to get the strawberry milk that she likes best. Tell her there will not be anymore pink milk and that there will only be white milk. She should soon go back to drinking the white.

I agree that it would make her tummy hurt whether it was pink or white if that was really happening. Why don't you want her taking the strawberry milk? Is it more sugar?

Flavored milks normally have tons of sugar in them. Plus artificial flavor and color. While its great when you're the kid drinking it, as the mom its like watching your kid drink Kool-Aid or soda, just a tad healthier. I think you definitely made the right choice. My mom only let me have "pink milk" once a week or so. I have never been a big milk drinker though but I would drink it all week to get the pink or chocolate milk.

You have done right in taking away the pink milk. Perhaps you can tell her she will only get pink milk on Saturdays(whichever day you choose) if she has her white milk all week.
