It depends on what is she watching. What is she watching anyway? My baby loves to watch Dora and Blues Clues. I think it is okay to let our toddlers watch educational program but still it has to be limited hours. We should never allow our children to watch anything that is violence, hatred etc. Watching those programs certainly effects our children's behavior. Also study shows that children who watches 4 or more hours of T.V a day has the tendency to be overweight.

All she watched is English Rhymes. We allowed it because we want her to sing the rhymes. Now she knows around 15 rhymes. Now we are reduced the watching time to 1 hour a day.
Thanks for your reply.

I don't think it is a good idea to allow a baby to watch television at all. You teach them to be a passive learner instead of an active learner. Give them toys that they can learn things with and allow them to play on a blanket on their tummies on the floor.

Yes, I do agree with Mom. Don't make habit of it. It will b dangerous in future. Its not so good always watch TV coz it effects on babies health also. Possibility of getting specs in small age.

There are children's programmes, at least on UK TV where the children are encouraged to sing and dance along with the performers. This keeps them active and often tires them out! I find my granddaughter likes to watch a favourite DVD over and over again. Once was Shrek and another Nemo. I see nothing wrong with this and she is often doing something else at the same time, like drawing or making things.

I don't believe all the hype about that. I have kids that are so smart their test scores are always above average and one of them is in the gifted program. I used to put educational TV on for them and I would watch it with them and interact with them based on what they were talking about.

Totally agree with you OliviaT I have an obviously bright 19 month old who is already ahead of her peers. She loves watching Barney and the wiggles and singing the songs and doing the dances.

I heard that too much tv before they were 5 caused problems with attention because the fast movement of the tv gets them to a point where later on they won't be able to sit and do worthwhile stuff for any period of time like studying, reading, writing.
