I know what you mean. It isn't always too much fun with MIL around when your wife becomes pregnant.
I wrote a little ebook "How To Get Rid of Your Annoying Mother In Law" with different suggestions on how to deal with MIL. I have a whole chapter about how to deal with them during the pregnancy and after birth (if you think that she is a pain in the neck now- just wait for the birth!)
