Natural and Old Fashioned Toys

With all the toy recalls going on I am thinking of doing away with plastic toys and just sticking to the more "natural" type toys. I am thinking soft rag dolls and wood toys. But they seem so expensive! Does anyone have a good source?

Have you tried searching yard sales or posting on Craigslist? They may be expensive but they last forever and at this point are actually safe. Or maybe try one of those "natural wood furniture" stores, they might have a small toy section.

Don't worry, you are not alone at all! Every parent I have talked to recently is talking about all the recalls and wanting to switch back to home made toys or old school ones. If I find any good sites I will let you know, I am hunting them myself for the upcoming holiday season.

Home made would worry me just as much because they are not subjected to any testing at all and could be unsafe without you knowing it.

My choice is Melissa and Doug wooden toys. They are expensive, but not too bad.
