Need some help

I need some advice from the women out there. My wife and I have started picking out names for our first baby. We have wholeheartedly agreed on the girls name. However, the boy's name is another subject. She really wants the name John. It's her father's name, although everyone calls him Joe. I am not a fan of it. My boss's name is John, and I can't stand him. So I of course immediately associate it with him. And even if his name wasn't John, I'm just not a fan of it. I have a strong feeling that this will cause an argument w/ her regarding the name when I tell her I don't like it. Any advice on how to tackle this conversation? Thanks.

Lächeln Compromise?

I agree with what you are saying about the name John, though while you are associating it with something negative she is associating it with something, someone, positive. You have to tread carefully here because it clearly means a lot to her, although you also have to make your feelings clear because it could potentially be the name of your son. Maybe you could explain to her that its not a favourite name of yours, but what about having it as a middle name? Or you could even suggest similar names....I cant think of any for John atm, but like Mary is derivative of Margaret.

Hope this helps!
