New Mom

Hello, I am kiico (Kee-Ko), and I am a brand new mommy! My son was born at the end of April, early you know - stubborn just like me and impatient! They had to stop my contractions twice because of a gall bladder issue, and then the doctors told me they were going to induce me! I told them, since this is my first baby EVER they would have to wait until I could finish painting the baby's nursery. Even though they did not like my answer, they agreed.

I have the support of my mother and my dear older sister - who just adores being an aunt for the first time! My brother has left for Iraq, but he was able to spend sometime with his little nephew before he shipped off.

Right now I am enjoying learning all the new things about babies, and each day is a new experience - I can not truly express how happy I am to finally become a Mother.

I think the best advice EVER given to me was:
Sleep when the baby sleeps!

Now, I know this sounds crazy, and its hard to get used to, but at some point your body will tell you to rest and it will shut down! I had to get used to this with my second (a girl) when I would fall asleep in the middle of the living room, watching TV, holding them baby, poof she fell asleep and I was out like a light. The only time this was truly a scare for me, was when I fell asleep half way sitting on the couch, woke up and thought I was going to fall off with baby in hand.

Alexis offers sound advice. Sleep whenever that little boy sleeps. You need the rest and he will keep you on your toes during the hours you normally should be sleeping. Welcome to our little home on the web. Congratulations on your bundle of joy! If you need help with anything just ask.

Thank you all of you! I am learning a good deal here, from when I am not constantly asking my mother questions (she had three, she should know it all, right?)! I am doing good so far, getting the hang of the sleep schedule is another story. Little by little though everything is coming together.
