My youngest girl is small and very thin. She eats plenty of fruits and vegetables, some meats (she's not a big meat eater but does like chicken) and not a lot of breads. The problem is when she gets up in the morning. Sometimes I can't get her to eat anything before lunch, especially if there isn't anything she wants for breakfast. Most days after lunch she eats good enough. Is this somethin I should be worried about or take her to a doctor over?

How old is she and when did this start? Was there something in her life that make have helped to get her into this non eating mood?

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Kids go through phases of not wanting to eat, and the most we can do as moms is provide them the food. It's up to them to eat it. Kids will never starve themselves. Sure, she may be lacking in some nutrients due to her not-eating in the morning (depending on her age, your doctor may agree to have her put on a children's vitamin). Rest assured, she will probably start eating breakfast/a morning snack soon enough. In the meantime, just keep giving it to her!

I think you should continue to try to get her to eat, not too pushy though. Even though I know your child is much younger than 6, I developed ulcer roundabout that age because I wouldn't eat breakfast and I would do all kinds of creative things like paying my brothers to eat my food.

I have a four year old who is just recently starting to eat a meal! So I don't think you have to worry too much about this. It can be hectic in the morning and your little one might just not be in the mood to eat. If she's old enough you can get her some cereal bars or granola bites that wouldn't necessairly involve sitting down on the table for a big breakfast.

Does she nurse or take a bottle in the morning? Drink a cup of milk? That could be why she's not eating until later. You could try having snacks out at set times.

My 18 month old son is small for his age as well. He isn't too thin, but he certainly has never been a rolly polly baby either! He is pretty short though. He eats a small amount for breakfast, along with a sippy cup of milk. Then he refuses to eat more than a bite or two until after his nap, which by the time he wakes up is close to 3pm. He eats a snack then and then eats a good amount for supper a few hours later. Its his lack of lunch that frustrates me. The rest of us eat lunch when we get hungry, usually around 11 or 12. He usually takes his nap around 1 and yet he won't eat before it!.

My little girl is actually doing better about eating breakfast. We have started buying powder donuts for breakfast, it's not very healthy but at least she will eat them. We've had to re-arrange our grocery list but we don't worry too much now. Somedays she eats like a pig all day and then other days she nibbles.
