"oh, how perfect, you have one of each!"
Why does that statement rub me the wrong way? I guess in some ways it makes me feel guilty for wanting another one, because people assume I'm done since I have a girl and a boy. Is it so wrong to not want just 2, even if you have a boy and girl?

I can see why it bothers you but at the same time I see it the other way too. As the mother of a girl I would like to know what it is like raising a boy. You have the yin and the yan, maybe you could think of it that way?

Lots of people have more than two kids, even if the first two completed a set of both sexes. Its become fairly common near me to have 3-5 kids again even if you don't really have the time or space for them, which boggles my mind. So unless you are having kids just for the welfare benefits there shouldn't be much holding you back.

People just say the first thing that comes to mind when they want to strike up a conversation. They do not necessarily think that of the implications. Don't let it annoy you too much. It much like saying to pregnant lady 'wow, you're getting so fat'

Oooh! That one used to burn me up! I never was *fat* while I was pregnant but that didn't stop insensitive people from saying it, lol. If you want more kids, who cares what others think? If you can take care of them your selves, that is, not letting the goverment do it. I know people who've had one kid after the other just for the check they would get.

I have one of each, and now I am *visibly* pregnant with my third. I have gotten comments on "why would we want another" since we already have one of each. I find a little sarcasm goes a long way in these situations. I tell people that, yes we have one of each, but ever since reading Middlesex I've wanted to try for that "third" sex.

I have one of each, and am planning on a third next year. My husband could do with the just the 2 if I was okay with that (he looks at it as "we already have 1 of each). However, he knows how important a third is to me, and he loves being a daddy, so he's good with having 1 more. The only other person I have heard think we should stop now is his brother, but I just let it go in one ear and out the other.

Some people just dont think before the speak its something that happens all the time over many issues besides kids. I would not worry too much that its bad to have another and take the comment with a grain of salt, knowing the person did not mean it the way it was said.

Even worse....
I had a girl last July, and I am due with my second this August. A certain family member keeps pressing that it needs to be a boy. I don't understand this. Even as soon as I had my daughter they were commenting, "all you need to do now is have a boy". I just smile and nod, but I want to say "no I don't." We are not finding out what the sex is this time, so I guess we'll find out what it is in August. Until then, I'll have to ignore the comments, and just hope for a happy healthy baby. I don't get the significance of having one of each. I'll be happy with a boy or girl. And I'll also be happy with only 2 children (for the time being) even if I don't have one of each.
