Old fashioned games

When I was a girl in the sixties there were very few obese children. We played outside with skipping ropes, balls, roller skates and bicycles. We drew chalk marks on the pavement and played hop scotch. I think if parents today asked their parents about old fashioned games, they could keep children better exercised by trying a few of them.

We as parents have to definitely be proactive in encouraging our kids to get out and MOVE! The tv and the video games have made so many of them sedentary at a young age. It helps if we can pave the way too and get out and bike ride with the kids, roller blade, toss the ball, play badminton etc.

I did the same things as you. I was never inside I was always active. Now kids get together and they play video games! What about kick ball and hide and seek?

My friend's lad was a chubby, unhealthy 14 year old who spent his time playing computer games in his room, then his father took up bike riding and encouraged him to come along. He liked it so much he is now a strong, slim, tanned and good-looking 18 year old who still plays computer games but cycling is his favourite pastime.

I played games like that to or read books. I think the best thing parents can do is limit the time their children sit in front of the television and the time they play video games. These two things are ruining our children's health and their minds.
