Is pedialyte really as useful as its made out to be? I mean it seems every time a kid gets the sniffles or a loose bowel movement they tell you to start filling them with pedialyte. Is it really necessary all the time?

As far as I understood it Pedialyte is good to keep kids hydrated and full of electrolytes and other things you need when you are sick. I think that diluted juice and bananas work well also. It is just seen as a convenience item for many moms because it has everything a baby needs already in it.
