Percentiles

Do you really pay attention to them at all? When your child is at a certain % do you worry and second guess yourself? Right now I am a little but when you do all you can, and all the "studies" say, what else is left?

I have insomnia and am rambling. What a week, is it Friday yet?

I don't really pay any mind to the percentiles. My son was about 41% in height and 63% in weight at his 15 month checkup. I joked with the doctor that he was short and fat, but in realty if you look at him, he is very proportioned.

Why would you second guess yourself? When you have a healthy child I think that is more important than them fitting into a chart.

I don't pay them much mind. My daughter was always 15% for height and 10% for weight. It never changed, she's just tiny. When her doctor used to bother me about it, I'd remind him that both my husband and I are smaller than average, she's just playing out her heredity!

I think there is a ton of hype on them, and wanted to get others feedback. Right now my girl is in an odd % for weight, and she is short (from her dads side of the family) but the damn numbers just freak me out sometimes I guess.

Our children are always on either side of the percentile equation. I'm not quite 5 feet and round and my husband is 6'3" and large. That means our children are either under by a lot or over by a lot. I've had kids marked "failure to thrive" and "obese, do not breast feed - switch to 2%. Know what I say, everyone needs a job.

I recommend ignoring the charts.

Ummie - "obese, do not breast feed"???? really??? That's crazy!!! Babies can digest and process breastmilk so much better than any other foods! Whoever said that is SO uninformed and ignorant that they should NOT be in that position!
