Picking their friends

I wish I could pick my kids friends. For the most part they have pretty great friends, but each of them have a couple I don't care for. They don't have great manners or a great family life. I'm trying to stay out of it, and hope my kids rub off on them.

Don't you wish you could pick your kids friends?

I do wish I could! I feel the more you try to keep your kids away from someone the more they try to hang out with them. My daughter has a great group of friends, and I hope she keeps them.

Yes, I wish I could pick as well. My hope is that for some of the ones I'm not too fond of, my kids will 'out grow' as they see how dis-similar our lifestyles are.

Maybe I'll feel differently when my daughter gets older but no I don't wish I could pick her friends. Having friends that are different than you teaches us how to get along with others.

I would rather not pick them actually. Kids need to (to a point) make their own mistakes and the reasons you list (bad manners and home life) I doubt are fully controllable by the child, so its kind of like you blame them fully on how they were brought up. What about their parents?
