I have been on the pill for 6 years with no problems. In February, I was sick and on antibiotics for a week, had surgery, and took recovery meds. A few weeks later (~March 16th) I had my next period, as scheduled, but it was much heavier, longer, and crampier than normal, almost like a period I would have had before being on the pill (ever since I have been on the pill my periods have been light and short, with no PMS). So I am thinking maybe the effectiveness of the pill was reduced because of what my body went through? Anyway, two weeks after that (~March 30th) I spotted midcycle for a few days, and I have had these symptoms ever since: really tired all the time, nausea that comes and goes, headaches, sore nipples, a crampy/weird feeling in my lower stomach, food aversions, and mood swings. I guess these can be normal PMS symptoms, but I have never experienced them before. What I am wondering is whether I got pregnant as a result of my pill being ineffective a few weeks ago. I did take a test yesterday and it was negative, but I am not due for my period for over a week. I guess I will have to just wait it out, but I am unsure whether I should keep taking my pill for the rest of the week. I was wondering if anyone had a similar experience or has any knowledge of how screwing up the pill messes with your body. My husband and I were not planning on conceiving for another year, but we would be excited if it happened.
