rather be drinking

I am so fed up with my ex! He insisted on half custody and the judge granted it. He frequently changes things or when I call to talk to my daughter he isn't with her. So why have her half the time if your constantly out drinking and partying and having someone else watch her? Probably because his family is free. Anyone else?

That sounds like something you might want to bring up during a new custody case in order to fight back legally. I know someone similar to this and right now my friend is the "new dad" figure for her child and he is stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Where do you live? I can't believe they let that happen, although with my ex husband he was known for doing drugs and there wasn't anything I could do about it. Thankfully my girls were in their teens and knew to call me to come get them if he did anything weird. I would consult a lawyer.

I live in Michigan and my lawyer SUCKED!! But that is another story! I can not wait to go back to court since I do have pictures I some how got printed of his actions while his daughter was at home being watched by his 80 year old grandmother. We go back to find out who will get custody for school.

Good thing you have prints of what it is he is doing with his son at a babysitter. Also document all things that relate to him changing stuff around with time and date so that you can show he consistently pulls stuff.

Some men are just irresponsible. I guess I shouldn't just say men, some parents just don't care. They don't understand that kids are the most important people in the world. Hopefully someday he will smarten up!

I agree with Ambersmom. Some parents just do not care nor should they have children. I have seen too many times the children get hurt in the middle of divorced parents.

It is not always the dad that is the alcoholic as in my situation. Sorry that your going through this I know how you feel as it is the same way for me except it is the ex wife that would rather be parting and drinking with her friends while my son is in the back bedroom!

You should ask for a 'right of first refusal' to be added to your custody arrangement. With that in place, if the father cannot or will not look after her he has to send her to you, if you are available rather than sending her to random people that you are not comfortable with.
