Ausrufezeichen Recalled: Cosco, Safety 1st, and Eddie Bauer car seats

Fri, Aug 31, 2007 (BabyCenter News) — Dorel Juvenile Group (DJG) has announced a recall of car seats branded Cosco, Safety 1st, and Eddie Bauer.

The harness adjustment strap on the car seat may loosen during use. If this happens, the harness can become too loose around the child, potentially increasing the risk of injury in a crash. No injuries have been reported.

DJG recommends that parents replace the harness adjustment strap as soon as possible, and will provide all registered car seat owners with information on how to obtain a free repair kit. In the meantime, the company says, parents may continue to use the car seats, taking special care to adjust the harness strap snugly. If the strap won't tighten or remain snug, DJG suggests using a different car seat until the repair has been made.

The recalled car seats were manufactured from November 2003 through December 2005. You'll find the date of manufacture and model number on a sticker on the side or back of the seat. The affected model numbers are as follows:

Cosco:
* Alpha Omega
* Alpha Omega Elite: 22150, 22155, 22180, 22269

Safety 1st:
* Alpha Elite
* Alpha Omega
* Alpha Omega Elite
* Alpha Sport
* Enspira: 22151, 22450, 22451, 22452, 22453, 22455, 22460, 22480, 22481
* Intera

Eddie Bauer:
* 3-in-1
* Deluxe 3-in-1
* Deluxe Convertible: 22740, 22750, 22755, 22756, 22757, 22770

What you can do:

* Check for harness slippage: Fully tighten the harness, then pull on the straps without pressing or lifting the harness adjustment lever. If movement occurs, the harness is slipping. * If your car seat isn't registered, call DJG toll-free at (800) 219-0509 or visit the company's website to order a free repair kit. The affected seat should not be returned to the place you bought it. * Visit the DJG website for information about the recall.
