Repeat names

I see this lately more than anything and I am wondering if there is something in the air or not? I see many people in groups between friends and family that feel they should name their child the same exact thing, the only difference is the last name. What gives?

I haven't seen this but I am not around a lot of moms with baby aged kids. I think I would be kind of annoyed if someone chose to name their baby the same as mine as I looked around to find unique names.

I haven't seen a lot of that. Maybe the second person to name the child that is doing it to "honor" the first? Kind of like when we name a child after its father or grandfather?

On the other hand, two of my children share a name (it's first name for one, middle for the other).
