My friend's daughter front teeth have gone bad. It really spoils her smile to see the black thing staring at you. Any way she says it's because she used to feed on her bottle all night long. Is there anything else she could have done?

I don't think much can be done about the current teeth except to wait until they fall out and then make sure that doesn't happen again. Nobody's likes to have a rotted teeth child because it looks bad on the parents, but it's something that commonly happens, so it's really no big deal.

I never knew this could happen, I had read about it but never heard of it really happening. I bet the parents feel bad about it. A friend of mine has soft teeth so she worries about her kids getting that as well.

Really prevention is key and nothing will make it better. Removal of the teeth may be called for if she is old enough, and if they cannot be repaired. If she is still young she could get replacements for a few years.

Dental care is of the utmost importance.

I've seen it happen too, in a child who was exclusively breastfeed, but he had very bad reflux and they think the acid from refluxing wore down the tooth enamel. they pulled the teeth when he was 3, and he's now 5 and the adult teeth haven't come in yet.

Its so sad to see children with rotten teeth. Oral care is a big responsibility for a parent and not always easy. At least they have time to fix the problem and teach the child to take proper care before the next set of teeth come in and its too late.

Children, especially toddlers, don't care much about oral care. So it is the main responsibility of the parents to make sure that their children have healthy and clean teeth. But I guess rotten teeth is normal with children because their teeth are still very sensitive. I remember having rotten tooth when I was 6 and we have to go to our dentist to pull it out because I cannot sleep at night anymore. I'm just glad it was replaced by a good tooth after a few months.

Sometimes kids with rotten teeth are quite sensitive and don't smile much and it also affects their play time because we know how kids can be cruel to each other at times, so it's really important for parents take care.

She should really take her to the dentist. If those teeth are rotting, infection can set in that will affect the adult teeth that are under the gums. She's better off having those pulled than leaving them there to cause more problems.

Agreed, it's time to get something done about it. If she has to go without till the adult teeth come through then so be it-at least there won't be more teeth there to let rot away. Maybe by the time she gets the adult teeth a lesson will have been learned and she'll care for them better than her parents cared for her milk teeth.
