I know a lot of SAHMs and in every case their SO is the primary bread winner, but I don't know a single SAHD. How common is this?

I know a couple. But it seems that even SAHMs are scarce these days. Most families need the extra income. One SAHD I know is a deadbeat and is not much use other than that too. The others are doing what they love, but it isn't often I see any SAHs.

I can honestly say that only one comes to mind right now and only from his past is it harder to get a job now for him. He has two kids under ten and works from home as a freelance web designer among afew other things right now and has been since they were tots.
