Scared!!

Okay, I know it's a little early for this seeing as I'm only 6 weeks, 1 day pregnant, but just thinking about labour and delivery is scaring the crap out of me. I am just wondering what it was like for all you guys who have already done it. I'm thinking of doing it naturally but now I'm not so sure if thats a wise decision .

When i was about 20 weeks i watched a birthing video and was oh so scared after that!
It is really a special experience, something that only happens (usually) a few times in your life. Even though it hurt (a lot), I really treasure my labor.
I thought that I wanted to do it naturally too, couldn't handle it though. It was very easy to give in and get an epidural, if I had been at home when i was in labor, I would have made it.
When I was in labor i just kept telling myself that women have been doing this for countless years, and I would make it through.
Enjoy your pregnancy, you'll miss it.

You are so close to giving birth now! I hope you have found some ways to work through your feeling of being scared, though some fear and anticipation is normal, healthy and to be expected! Too much of it is not such a great thing. There is a book called "Birthing from Within" that is really good at addressing fear and mentally and emotionally preparing for labor and birth. Have a great birth.

I was petrified from the day I found out I was pregnant, and As the day grew nearer I got more scared each day, But when the day comes when your in Labor, Your even more scared and nervous on top of that.. I know I was.. But I didn't think It was as bad as people make it out to be. I had drugs, and I'll admit it was a bit painful, but its more like a pressure feeling more than pain... You realize how strong you really are when you have a baby... I'm a big wimp over everything ha ha, But through childbirth, your just eager to get it over with and the pain don't seem so bad. And when they lay that newborn baby in your arms for the first time, You forget all the pain you did have, and Your just happy to have it over with and finally have your baby Dont be scared, Your strong and you can definantly do this

I was scared too when I first found out I was pregnant the first time. I was thinking about the labor too. Every one was talking about their labor experiences and it kind of make me think about what I would have to go through to have my baby. I am not a big fan of pain. Then I forgot about it at about two months into the pregnancy.

I was very busy dealing with morning sickness. That passed too in a little while. Then it got closer to the time I was to have my baby and I got scared again. I later found out that I did not have much to worry about, When I went into labor me pain was so mild that I kept going to sleep. The nurses kept waking me up and telling me that I was not to go to sleep. And it is true that as soon as they lay your baby in your arms you will forget the pain of labor.

Well, I won't sugarcoat it honey, but labor and delivery was ugly for me. That is really the reason why I still haven't decided to try for baby no. 2. But there are painless options available for moms-to-be. I watched a video of hypnobirthing and I was in awe. It can make the experience painless and wonderful. Water births can also make the birthing experience much more wonderful for mothers.

Try not to be scared. Being scared tenses up all the muscles you're going to need. Make this your mantra -- each pain means one less; one step closer. The harder the contraction the closer baby is. There are medicines to help but ultimately you're the one. So don't tense up and count the seconds til he/she is here. Good Luck.

I have 5 kids so it can't be that bad lol. Really though its nothing you can't handle and if it is to intense then there is medications to take. Natural is a good way to go if you can stand the pain but you don't want to be so wore out after delivering that you can't enjoy your new baby. I did go without medications for 2 of mine because they came so fast there wasn't any time for them. But the ones with the medications went just fine. The babies came out alert and awake and I wasnt all that exhausted. I have had demorall and epideral and I would say the epideral was the most effective. Good luck to you and it will be ok.

Just Relax

I was a little apprehensive about the delivery with my first pregnancy, but I learned that once my labor started it was the most natural thing in the world. I went to the hospital toward the end of my pregnancy and asked if they would give me a tour. That really helped - just being able to see everything. So just relax and enjoy your pregnancy.
