I've been reading a lot lately about vaccinations and the risks of each. While I agree that most are necessary, I'm wondering weather I want to wait on them. For one, I don't want any foreign substance in their systems, other than breastmilk until 6 months. This includes vaccines.
Also, I've pretty much decided not to vaccinate for chicken pox, I just don't believe the vaccine immunity is as good.
I'm looking for any feedback on those who chose to wait, or deny certain vaccines. Thanks

I had all three of mine vaccinated on schedule. Of course, back then there wasn't as much talk of the possible dangers of the vaccines. However, I believe I would do it the same now. The diseases that the vaccines prevent are more dangerous, in my opinion. Some that have been largely eradicated in the US are starting to be seen more commonly because of people not having their children vaccinated. To me, seeing polio and measles resurge is far more risky.

I have made sure that my baby get its vaccination in time. The vaccines are controlled viruses that the body could easily destroy. This will help the immune system of the baby recognize these viruses in the future. Preventing the baby from these fatal diseases. I would recommend to do on schedule and not wait for the baby to grow old, it might be too late.

My son was vacinated and has been sick more times than not. My girl is 17 months old, never vacinated other than the shots at the hospital after birth and has been sick one time only for 2 days she had a snotty nose - thats it.

I have many, many concerns about vaccinations. My 3 year old has received only one (at 18 months, the DTaP). My 12 month old has received none. There are some my children will receive in time, but certainly not all. I am very uncomfortable with some of the *other* ingredients in vaccines, such as aluminum and formaldehyde.

Those are my concerns too. I mean, an older child's body may be able to handle the "extra ingredients" but a young baby? Their bodies are so immature and if I can give their bodies a chance to mature, even a few extra months, I just wonder if it would be better on their bodies to give them that extra time. Am I making any sense?

You are making sense yes. My daughter has had no vaccines to date. If there were nothing but the dead or weakened viruses or bacteria in the shots then I would be more likely to do them. But there can be hitchhikers (thinking SV40) as well as the host of undesirables such as aluminium, formaldehyde, antibiotics, bovine serum, aborted foetal cells (ok the abortion was in the 1960's, but that still does not sit with my morals).

Anyway, maybe when she is older. But I do not fear the diseases as much as I fear the shots. I come from a country where we are not as shot happy as the US, and I myself only ever had one vaccine series as a child-DT (not even P).
