I always thought baby showers were just for the first child. I never got one for my first two, but was given one for my third. Is it common to have a baby shower for every child or just the first one?

I think these days people use any excuse to spoil kids, so a shower for each would fit that bill. I know my one friend is on her fifth child (the last two being "surprises") and has had a shower for all of them. I think sometimes it depends on the timing, like you not getting one for the first two. People probably realized you missed out and its better late than never.
