Signs of Ovulation

I am not a woman but I have a girlfriend. I was giving her a hug and then she told me that her breasts hurts when it is pressed. She told me that it is a sign that her period is coming up. That means her ovulation is right now and if we make out, she might get preggy.

What are the other signs of ovulation?

Actually, I was always told by my mom and physician that ovulation occurs in the middle of a woman's cycle, not right before her period actually occurs. If her breasts are hurting, and it's right before her period, then she should have ovulated about ten days prior to that I believe. However, it is possible to get pregnant five to seven days on either side of ovulation since a sperms' lifespan is a week to ten days.

Actually, the ovum only lives for 24-48 hours after ovulation. Signs of ovulation are a rise in basal temperature, a pain on one side of the abdomen, and eggwhite cervical mucus. Ovulation generally occurs 12-15 days before the first day of a woman's period.

Truthfully, I never show sings of ovulation. I do know, however, that the only time my breasts hurt is when I'm already pregnant. The other posters are right though. Ovulation takes place about two weeks before the period.

Yup, aching breasts is normally not actually ovulation, although I knew a girl in college who swore she could feel when she ovulated (but in college people will say anything I suppose). And you could get her pregnant any time you "make out" if it involves unprotected sex and she isn't using a birth control method. Thats why the only 100% safe method is abstinence.

Ovulation can have some varying effects and manifestation in women. In some cases, breast getting swollen and aching can be one sign. But experts say that body temperature can be one sign of ovulation. By testing body temp, you can gauge when it's the right time to make a baby. This is one of the family planning method suggested by some, am just not sure what it is called.

Hope that helps!

Thanks a lot for your posts. I learned a lot from you guys! Well, I think that it is her body's way of saying, "I'm ready". And it is also the time for me to get a little distance to avoid unwanted responsibilities.

If getting your girl pregnant is an unwanted responsibility, I HIGHLY recommend using a condom at all times during her cycle. My first was conceived when we had sex on the last day of my period, more than a week before I ovulated (I can also feel it when I ovulate, it's not a myth), I know, because we didn't have sex at any other point during that cycle until after I ovulated. He was a baby opps.

Just a heads up on this and I'm sure you were trying to be polite but "make out" does not equal = possible pregnancy. The things after make outs can though.

I was told it was during mid cycle (from the end of one period to the start of another).

Since my first baby was born, I have been able to tell when I was ovulating because of pain in one or the other of my overies, at least my doctor said that was where the pain was probably coming from.
