Sleep Issues

My sister doesn't sleep well when mom isn't around to put her down. How can I help her learn to sleep without leaving her to cry?

That can be a tough one!
When my kids are upset about something and can't sleep, I just have them lie down and I rub their back gently until they fall asleep.

How old is you sister? I still rock my three year old girl, sometimes she will go to sleep on her own but not all the times. Maybe you could sit with her until she fell asleep?

She's just six weeks old. I do sit with her-she's normally on my chest in a rocking chair and will have just had a bottle of breast milk. But she just really seems to miss my mom.

Does she cry when your mom rocks her? At 6 weeks I don't think its that she is "missing" your mom as much as something just feels off to her. You might try putting one of your mom's shirts on that she has worn (that sounds gross, but her smell might be comforting). Do you wear perfume? It might be too strong for her. Are you tense or worried when you are rocking her? Babies can pick up on that really easily and it distresses them.
