My oldest is two years old. She still does not sleep through the night. Some nights she wakes just twice, others it is as often as every hour. She has been like this since the day she was born.

How can I help her sleep better, without cry it out?

My girl is turning 1 on the 11th of this month, the last few days she has wen to sleep at night like normal, wakes up an hour later, screams, crashes back out for afew hours, wakes up, screams, then out for the night.

Trying to see if its from-
teething (canines, the pointy fang like ones)
scared of dark (she has a night light)
separation anxiety (since I am with her all day, I work from home)

Most of the time, I think it is just separation anxiety. What my wife did was continually read our child stories until they go to sleep. And if they wake up, read them some more. That always worked, and the midnight wakings ceased after awhile.

Unfortunately my girl has been like this since birth so it's not teeth. She is not afraid of the dark, and will go off and lock herself in a closet to hide for ten minutes at a time.

We read to sleep but in the night it doesn't work.

Some babies will take after their parents sleep schedule, the best you can do is get yours under wraps to help the little one get theirs together. I have seen some children take after their parents work schedule, one works graveyard the other worked days, and this kept the child on such a wacky schedule it was a couple of years before the child knew when sleeping was to be done.

She has a consistent sleep schedule even though I do not. Mine would be a whole lot MORE stable if she slept better! That way I could get things done when I needed to...

Is she waking up calling for you? or is she getting out of the bed? I just ask because if she is just quietly stirring around in her bed I would just leave her be. If she is getting up or calling for you maybe you could try a reward system. If she stays in the bed through the night for 3 nights in a row she gets a reward. You could have a sticker chart or something and the more nights she stays in bed the larger the reward. Some kids are really motivated with this kind of idea. (Basically, it's just bribery)

Hi there, my name is Johan. I read your post and my son does the same thing throughout the night. He is 18 months. His is mainly because his stomach hurts. If he eats something off the ground like a piece of paper or plastic from a toy, then he'll have stomach aches. I can't watch what he's doing every second and sometimes he slips something in his mouth. One day he ate a piece of crayon and he was not a happy camper that night. And that's when me and my wife had a close eye on him while he colored. He's a fast one
