Soy Formula
My youngest girl's stomach couldn't handle regular baby formula so we had to switch her to soy formula. After that, she was a lot less fussy at and after mealtimes. Even after we took her off formula, we still had to buy soy milk for her to drink. At three years old, she stopped drinking soy milk and went to regular milk and now won't touch soy. But at least for a little while, that is the only thing kind of milk that would stay on her stomach. Did anyone else have to try an alternative formula?

My oldest couldn't tolerate regular formula so she was also on soy. When she was done we started her on goats milk. She tolerated that real well. Now that soy milk tasted better than it used to she is back on soy.

I have always heard that goat's milk was real good for you but have never had the chance to try any. Is it any good?

My daughter was the same way. She had reflux really bad and it seemed like regular formula made it even worse. So, I ended up switching to Prosobee and adding cereal to her bottles. This helped so much and the reflux was rarely a problem anymore.

The fear I would have is that soy is terribly allergenic, and that many kids who have allergies are likely ultimately to develop an allergy to it. I read instead that hydrolysed protein formulas are better.

I have many worries about soy myself, not limited to the allergies, but also overexposure to soy products, especially processed soy, brings up many issues. Soy, in over abundance, is an endocrine blocker, and a hormone disruptor. Given the soy to weight ratio of feeding an infant soy formula scares me. There is goat's milk formula and hypoallergenic non-soy formula that are more expensive, and breastmilk which is of course free.

My oldest couldn't seem to keep regular formula down for long before he was sitting up on his own. (The sitting up must have done the trick.) He is 15 now, and I don't know if soy formula just wasn't available or if my doctor just didn't deserve the M.D. behind his name, but nothing was ever suggested other than just keep giving it to him. It was terrible. The child would spit it all back up...usually all over me...within 10 minutes of eating. My next child, and the others that were on formula, were all on soy formula and they didn't have that problem, any more than is normal. My youngest was 100% breastfed and he did it somewhat, worse than his brothers that were on soy but not as bad as the oldest. But he still will spit up small amounts sometimes, especially after eating even just a tiny bit of ice cream, and he is 19 months old! He does fine with milk though, so I am not sure what the problem is and the doctor isn't concerned about it.
Reading what Seattle mom said about soy formula though, I probably wouldn't ever choose it again!

Although in general soy milk is not suitable for babies or infants , there exist baby formulas based on soy protein....

I've been told not to feed our newborn baby boy ANY soy products as chemicals in soy mimic female hormones (anyone else heard this?)
