spit up

My baby spits up all the time. I breastfeed and thought that if a baby was spitting up all the time it was usually from the wrong kind of formula. When I say all the time I mean 5 and 6 times during the day and it has even been an hour or so after eating.

Babies spit up for many reasons. Sometimes, even if they nurse, they manage to get air along with the milk. If they're not burped well, they will eventually spit up, milk comes up with the air. If it's not sour smelling, or curdled, I wouldn't worry so much; especially if he always does it. It might be normal for him.

I would ask your pediatrician what he recommends. Does it come out sour smelling or chunky? It does not seem that it is a normal thing for babies.
