Teaching Portion Size?
I know one of the big reasons many people have added pounds is they simply don't know what a portion is. Are there any fun ways to teach kids about portion sizes?

That's true for some people, but for me, I just eat as much as I want, I hardly give attention to my portion size, I just eat what I can manage.

I am not sure about fun but there are ways to do it. We see so many people now that eat to eat, not to feed themselves a normal amount needed, but to stuff themselves full until they pop - its sick.

I think that the most important thing is just to not force a child to clean their plate. That takes away the natural inclination to self manage their diet and the amount that they need to eat before they feel full.

I am the exact same way and I don't eat too much, but it is hard to manage kid's portion. I usually don't put too much on my son's plate so he feels proud when he does finishes all his food and then if he wants more he can have a little more.

I agree with LoveMaGirl, allowing a child to eat their fill and not forcing them to "clean their plate" is the best way to teach them how much to eat. Also be sure not to give food when the child is hurt or angry which teaches them to eat when their emotions are out of control. Teaching a child that we eat to make ourselves un-hungry is the best way to teach proper eating.
