Teething Help!

My buddy has a 5 month old right now and is complaining that he thinks his little lady is teething. I have went through everything I can think of to help him, but he still doesn't get it. I know hes going through tons right now with a divorce and a small child, but he has been up for about a week now and starting to think she will never get them in. How can I assure him that this takes time?

Remind him of how it was when he was getting his wisdom teeth, they nag and hurt and still don't show up, then they barely appear and then nag and hurt again.

Aw, poor guy, that does sound like he's dealing with a lot. Those first teeth just take forever to show up. It really, really sucks. For both mine it was like 3 solid months of preteething before I ever saw those first ones. Not much you can do about it!

I think I will just mail him a box of Tylenol for when he gets the headache of being up all night. He isn't sure how long it takes and he will ask and I will tell him the same thing. I think he is just forgetting since the lack of proper sleep is kicking in.

A box of Tylenol and some Orajel for the little one perhaps? It definitely can take forever, and seem like longer. He's under so much stress everything probably seems ten times worse than it really is. Poor guy.

Teething is super painful. Not just for the babies but for the parents as well. I remember teeth taking too long. Maybe because you can feel the pain that the child has. It is so hard to soothe a teether.

My girl now has her 8 front teeth, skipped a spot on the left side for both top and bottom and got her 2 molars there (the second ones I guess?), and now she is getting her bottom one (skipped a spot again) on the right side.

Teething is fun (sarcasm), its hard for all involved in the process. Rest when you can with the baby and hugs go a long way too.

Thanks for this topic, I could prepare myself for the long nights of no sleep, which already started.

When does teething actually start? I know its too early to ask because my baby is just 1 and a half month old. What else could I do to ease the pain that my baby would experience, besides hugging?

Hugs are always good, right now my girls is skipping some teeth spots and moving to cut with the next, its really odd. Hugs are good and try to give them things to chew on. Right now my girls favorite thing is a sippy cup with a soft nozzle for the spout.
