Telling your child that you're having another

I'm just curious how you all handled it and how the older child reacted? My first was 2 1/2 when I had my second daughter. We had gotten past the how did the baby get in there questions and she seemed to be excited about having a baby sister/brother. When I was in the hospital and she came to see us, she was very quiet for a while. Her dad asked her if she was ready for mommy to come home and she said yes. He asked her if she was ready for the baby to come home, too, and she said "no, leave her here".
