The placenta

So, this probably comes as odd to some of you, but what did you do with the placenta after the birth? Just let the hospital take it? Did you get to examine it at all?

I got a good look at both of my kids placentas before they were double bagged and put in the freezer. They are both still in there awaiting our trip to our new home, where they will be planted in the garden with a tree over them. I'm going to try to find a tree that is the same age as each child. We've waited because we wanted to have our own home before we planted them, as good luck.

I let it go, be disposed of. I was offered it, in the maternity center, but at the time I didn't have a house with garden to plant it under a tree, and I didn't have a big enough freezer even for a week's grocery, let alone a placenta.

This is new to me. I've never heard of the placenta being froze and saved to plant with a tree. In the hospital, I was never even asked about it. I don't know what the hospital did with it.

I didn't hear anything about this until after my son was born. I had a c section and I was not offered the placenta. Can't say I wanted it either.

I checked up on the cord stem cell save the stuff deal, but it was way more than we could afford. I know it was placed in a bowl type and then I don't know what they did with it.
