Todays Diet

A lot of the problems with over weight come from eating the wrong foods. Back when mom was home all day, she had time to plan good nutritious meals. There weren't so many fast food places or so much junk food. There weren't commercials for them every fifteen minutes on tv reminding kids how good they are.

These days, so many moms have to work. After working all day, its hard to make a good dinner. It's so much easier and quicker to grab something on the way home, or make one of those mostly pre-made, pre-packaged quick meals. Those things are high in fat and calories and low in nutrition. And the amount of soda that's consumed, along with the sugar adds to the problem.

This is really a good post. Mothers should think what is best for the health of the children. They should carefully plan what are the best food to serve for the family.

Pre-made foods and foods from fastfoods are rich in sugars and cholesterols. They don't bother about the health of your child, all they want is your money. Its just good business for them.

I am a busy mom myself, and I work from home! We try to get frozen foods (not cardboard type), but like veggies we can steam quick and make a good meal with. Tonight for example, he cooked, which was nice and he got many points for it.

We had chicken marinated in butter (OK that might not be healthy haha) with garlic and herb seasoning, along side mashed potato's with chives, bacon pieces and sour cream.

I agree, mothers should be home to make proper meals for their families and there would be much less of an issue.

I think BOTH mom AND dad should think about what they are feeding their kids. And it should start from day one.

Also adults need to realize that whatever they are eating, the kids will want to eat too. So if you want your kids to eat well, YOU need to eat well.

The best thing to do is to buy things that are more natural, that you have to cook or prepare than packaged foods.

Since I have a child with milk issues, we cant buy a lot of foods that are predone since they use whey in most foods to help stabilize them and he cant have it. And it is a pain. At first. Then its almost more trouble to eat out or drive through than just cook.

Cooking can be fun for everyone.

I was also very concerned about what my kids eat until my 6 year old started lifting weights.

Now he eats Mcdonalds and pizza all the time and doesn't have an once of flab.
