Total Abstinence

When you are trying to conceive, do you completely stay away from anything risky? Do you shun all alcohol and over the counter meds, or do you only do that once you find out you are pregnant?

I stayed away from everything and started taking prenatal vitamins as soon as we decided to try for a baby. I just wanted to have a baby nothing else matters as much as my health so baby can be healthy.

I am with good stuff. I abstained from all alcohol and risky behavior. I am not good at taking vitamins but gave it my best shot. I eat health which for me is a big sacrifice.

I do not drink or smoke anyway so I did not really have any issues with that. My only problem was giving up my caffeine. That was really hard!

I didn't change anything until we knew I was pregnant because I knew from experience how long it could take to get that way. I did abstain from all alcohol about a month before we conceived not that I was a huge drinker anyway.

I knew pretty early on that I was pregnant, and didn't change anything till then. Quite simply, I hadn't been trying for a baby, I was just living my normal life and hence not abstaining.

I drank before I knew I was pregnant and my child has classic FAS disorders and physical deformities. 2-3drinks on weekends for 5 weeks. I had a false negative test , unplanned pregnancy and irregular cycle. It can happen and it's devastating! Do not drink if you do not use contraception.
