Some TV can be good for children and fun at the same time. For the most parts children shows teach good leasons.

There are indeed much healthier activities, but they don't have to do those activities 24/7.

Too much TV isn't good, but there is nothing wrong with them watching for an hour or so. Of course, you have to closely monitor what they're watching. There's a lot of violent stuff on TV that little ones don't need to see.

I let my son watch TV, although we prefer the programs that keep him active and entertained.

My wife and I are not big TV fans so I'm pretty sure that our little one will be on a limited diet. However I do remember watching quite a bit of Sesame Street and I daresay I was entertainted and learned a lot. I guess it depends too on the child's age and the balence with other, more physical activities.

TV shows today are too much entertainment and not enough by way of teaching anything. They are filled with behaviours that you really, really don't want your little one copying.
In total, I would guess that my girl watches maybe four to seven hours a week. Sometimes going a full week without the TV is normal.

I have a TV and except for maybe three years in my (adult) life I did not have one. We have always grown up in our own homes and our (adult) homes to monitor kids and tv, its a set rule that has never been challenged.

As kids we had similar limitations, we basically watched TV for a few hours per week, and concentrated on playing outdoors and doing our school work.
