My nearly five-year-old son's birth was the BEST birth experience! Labor started at 5am when my water broke. Contractions were not bad yet for the 45-minute ride to the hospital where we chose to birth. We got settled in a room and I snuck a few sips of the red Powerade I smuggled in (

A friend had told me about "low tones" (I saw someone else mention this here - it's awesome!) and so during contractions - once they started hurting - I used this method of pain control. It really works! During contractions, I could handle them because of the low tones. Between contractions, I felt GREAT!
When the time came to push - I always know when it's coming because I have a hard time handling the contractions and start crying when they're over - I continued with low tones. I only pushed ONCE! (The nurse told me it was more like HALF a push!) He *squirted* out, it felt really funny! He was smaller than my previous baby (who was right at ten pounds - this one was only 8 pounds, 10 ounces), so that probably helped some.
I LOVED not having all kinds of medicines in me! It was a wonderful experience. I HIGHLY recommend the low tones!
