Vacation at Home

I neither have the money or the ability to go away on a vacation this year. So I will be taking some time off soon and just spending it doing stuff locally and trying to recoup.

Anyone do this?

My mom has done this since I can remember. Being military we could get cheap attraction tickets through the rec department as well as guides to local attractions. We saw lots of state parks, museums and zoos growing up. I never minded as I'm a big geek and it let us do other things with the money we saved.

All the time, I hardly get to vacation in the real sense of the world, but it's a great time to see the attractions in your local area and spend quality time together as a family.

We have done it, just make sure you don't use your vacation time catching up on household chores! I did that once and it was a big mistake.

We also like to go camping close by. Just getting out of the house and around nature for a few days can be wonderful!
