Washing Stuffed Animals

Does washing stuffed animals really get rid of the germs inside the stuffing properly? I always worry they don't get fully dry inside and the moist dark stuffing will breed germs more than if I had not washed them at all.

You'd have to get it really hot. The water hot or else microwave the toy or something. I have never really thought about the germs, but yes I do machine wash them.

I try to keep them on the hotest that my machine will allow. Its pretty new and has never been an issue before hand. Most times if they are inside the house toys I will wash them weekly, or sooner if a sickness happens.

If I washed all of ours weekly then I would never stop washing! As the kids get older I think it is less important to do things like this, as they are not so vulnerable, and besides they need to build up some tolerance.

I have always just washed the stuffed animals when ever they got dirty. I throw them into the washer on hot water and then, if they can go into the dryer that's where I put them, if not, I will hang them on the line.
