When your babies become kids and start going to school, are they still feeding from milk bottles?

I had an acquaintance whose kid just would not part with his milk bottle and insists on bringing it to school (kindergarden). The teacher had to call up the mother because this wasn't advisable.

At what age do you start to wean off those milk bottles and how did you do it?

My own, she grew up herself literally. Simply decided she didn't want to use the milk bottle anymore right before she entered kindergarten. I had it easy .

I can't believe this. I guess this person has a wonderful dental insurance. Pediatricians tell you to start weaning the kids by 1 year old and to make sure the baby doesn't go to bed with a bottle to avoid cavities.

All my kids are completely off the bottle by the time they're two. One of my kids loved her bottle, it's like a security blanket to her. She brings it everywhere and chews the nipple till it's a mess. I had to be firm with her and simply took it away from her. She cried and cried but we managed to persuade her into becoming a big girl and start on sippy cups.

It took us until about 18 months to finally wean her completely off the bottle but amazingly enough the day we finally took them away completely she didn't even make a peep about it!

I started to get my daughter off as soon as the doctor told me. It took me a while because she wanted her "bibi" but I persevere and bought some good sippy cups starting with the ones that were a little like a bottle.

I breastfed so I didn't have to go through that. In fact, my baby went from nursing straight to a proper cup-not even a sippy. I find it shocking that a kid was on the bottle so long!
