Who will give the driving lessons?

My kids are a few years away from learning to drive, but the thought of it scares me too death.
My dad taught me how to drive and I think I'll send my husband out to give the driving lessons because I would probably be white knuckled holding the door knob the entire time!

He will be doing the teaching I have no problems with it or anything but sometimes he is a better teacher than me. And after being in a wreck before the last thing I want to worry about is freaking out in front of my children teaching them.

I am considering using someone who does driving lessons for a living to teach my son. I don't think I have the patience or the time to do this alone but I also want to help my son along the way.

I actually learned the most from my mother and my mother-in-law (who taught me how to drive her standard). My mom was more willing to give feedback than my dad, even if she was white knuckled and obstinate at times. My mother-in-law has taught motorcycle driver's ed for years though as well as her own kids so she's pretty good at it. My dad wouldn't have spoken up if I had broadsided a semi, so I quit taking him to practice even though he made me less nervous. I think driving with different people helped me though.

I can see us both getting involved. But I also would like my kids to take a defensive driving course. It's a more intensive course where you learn how to react in dangerous situations (skids, needing to stop suddenly). I think that would be very helpful.
